Launched in 2020, Athanor by Mendittorosa is a fragrance that captures the essence of deep earth and warm spices, crafted by perfumer Luca Maffei. The composition opens with an unexpected note of sulphur, which adds an intriguing smokiness to the scent. This bold opening leads into a heart of cassis and saffron, creating a vibrant contrast before settling into a base of guaiac wood, java vetiver oil, and black amber. The result is a complex, earthy composition that feels both ancient and modern.
Athanor is a fragrance that evolves over time, so applying it to pulse points allows you to experience its full range. The sulphur note fades quickly, but the warm spices and woody base notes will linger for hours. It's best worn in cooler weather or indoors where its rich complexity can be fully appreciated.
