The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2011 by Olfactive Studio, Chambre Noire is a Leather fragrance created by perfumer Dorothée Piot. The composition opens with the sharp tang of pink pepper and plum, leading into a heart of incense, violet, papyrus, and jasmine. This sets the stage for a base of leather, sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, and musk that reads as smoky, powdery, and warm-spicy. The fragrance is inspired by a photograph taken in Cairo, capturing a moment between intensity and mystery. Chambre Noire embodies this duality with its blend of modern art photography and perfumery.
Apply one to two sprays — the pink pepper top notes are fleeting but bright, while the leather and patchouli base takes about an hour to fully bloom. This scent reads better close to skin than across a room, so aim for pulse points.
