The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 1937, Gentry Jockey Club by Oriza L. Legrand is a unisex fragrance that combines woody and leather accords with earthy and smoky undertones. The composition opens with saffron and ylang-ylang, giving way to the rich, deep notes of leather, iris pallida, and birch. Vetiver and sandalwood anchor the base, while tonka bean adds a warm spiciness that cuts through the earthy musk. This fragrance is neither overtly masculine nor feminine but exudes a lasting elegance.
Apply two sprays to your pulse points — the saffron and ylang-ylang are fleeting but set the stage for the deeper notes. The leather and woody base develop gradually, so it's best to wear this in the evening when you have time to let its complexity unfold.
