The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2019 by Penhaligon's and crafted by perfumer Alberto Morillas, The Impudent Cousin Matthew is a Citrus Aromatic fragrance that captures the essence of youthful exuberance. It opens with a burst of Mandarin Orange, followed by Petitgrain, creating a vibrant and energetic top. As it settles into its base note of Patchouli, the composition takes on a grounded warmth, balancing the initial freshness with an earthy depth.
This fragrance blooms best with two sprays — the Mandarin Orange top note is bright but fleeting, while the Patchouli base gradually emerges over an hour. It's perfect for daytime wear when you want a scent that feels fresh and lively without overpowering.
