Who Wears It
The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2010, Sartorial by Penhaligon's is a fragrance that balances the crispness of modernity with the rich heritage of its British roots. Crafted by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour, it opens with metallic notes and aldehydes, creating an immediate sense of sharp sophistication. This freshness quickly gives way to a heart of cardamom, black pepper, and ginger, adding a spicy warmth that cuts through the initial coolness. The base is anchored by woody accords, leather, honey, and tonka bean, bringing together an earthy richness with a subtle sweetness.
Apply Sartorial with two sprays to ensure that its metallic opening notes are balanced by the rich base. The fragrance's longevity is best experienced when it has time to develop on the skin, so avoid reapplying too frequently. It pairs well with a jacket or coat for added warmth and depth.
