The story behind the bottle.
Grey Vetiver by Tom Ford, launched in 2009 and crafted by perfumer Harry Fremont, is a Woody Spicy fragrance that redefined the vetiver category with its refined and versatile profile. It opens with bright notes of grapefruit and orange blossom before transitioning into an aromatic heart of sage and nutmeg. The base features earthy vetiver, oakmoss, and amber, creating a composition that reads as silvery and polished rather than traditionally green or swampy. This fragrance won the Fragrance Foundation's 'Perfume Extraordinaire of the Year' and 'Fragrance of the Year – Men’s Prestige' awards in 2010, cementing its status among the most respected scents.
Grey Vetiver projects best with a moderate spray. The citrus notes are bright but fade within two hours, while the vetiver and oakmoss base continues to evolve throughout the day. It's ideal for daytime wear, where its restrained elegance shines through without overpowering.
