Launched in 2009 by Van Cleef & Arpels and crafted by perfumer Randa Hammami, Orchidée Vanille is a floral scent that challenges the typical sweetness of vanilla fragrances. It opens with mandarin and lychee, bringing a fresh fruity vibrancy before giving way to the heart notes of violet and Bulgarian rose, which add depth and complexity. The base of vanilla absolute, tonka bean, and cedar creates a warm, powdery finish that is both comforting and sophisticated. Orchidée Vanille has earned praise for its nuanced approach to vanilla, offering a more grown-up alternative to typical gourmand scents. However, it's also noted for its relatively short longevity, which can fade within an hour despite the high price point.
Given its short longevity, Orchidée Vanille is best applied frequently throughout the day to maintain its presence. It's ideal for daytime wear or indoor settings where you can enjoy its warmth up close rather than projecting it across a room.
