The story behind the bottle.
Splendid Wood by Yves Saint Laurent, launched in 2017 and crafted by perfumers Amandine Clerc-Marie and Marie Salamagne, is a woody-spicy scent that embodies the brand's legacy of sophistication. The fragrance opens with the vibrant notes of cardamom and incense, creating an aromatic tension before easing into a heart of rose and jasmine sambac. This floral warmth then settles into a smoky, earthy base dominated by oud, cedar, and cypriol oil, resulting in a composition that is both grounding and mysterious.
Apply this fragrance to pulse points for a warm, enveloping effect. The smoky base notes take about an hour to fully bloom, so plan accordingly. It pairs well with layered clothing in cooler weather, allowing the scent to linger close to your skin.

Amandine Clerc Marie
Grasse-born, Firmenich-trainedAmandine Clerc-Marie is a French perfumer born in Grasse, where her mother also worked in the perfume industry. She trained at ISIPCA and spent more than ten years working alongside Michel Almairac before joining Firmenich in 2011 as a senior perfumer.
