Launched in 2014, Splendid Wood by Yves Saint Laurent is a woody spicy fragrance created by perfumers Marie Salamagne and Amandine Clerc-Marie. The composition begins with incense and cardamom, setting the stage for an aromatic journey that unfolds into oriental woods, jasmine sambac, agarwood (oud), cypriol oil or nagarmotha, and cedar. This scent is neither strictly masculine nor feminine, embodying a sophisticated unisex elegance. The interplay of warm spices and smoky oud creates a rich, enveloping aroma that feels both modern and lasting.
Apply Splendid Wood sparingly — the aromatic top notes fade within an hour but allow the warm spices and smoky oud to linger. This fragrance reads better close to skin than across a room, making it perfect for quiet moments or intimate settings.

Amandine Clerc Marie
Grasse-born, Firmenich-trainedAmandine Clerc-Marie is a French perfumer born in Grasse, where her mother also worked in the perfume industry. She trained at ISIPCA and spent more than ten years working alongside Michel Almairac before joining Firmenich in 2011 as a senior perfumer.
