The story behind the bottle.
Jérôme Epinette crafted Gypsy Water Absolu for Byredo, launching it in 2026 as an Oriental Woody fragrance that captures the essence of wanderlust and comfort. The composition opens with a vibrant interplay of black pepper and bergamot, which cuts through to the heart notes of pine needles and incense, creating a smoky warmth. Orris and carrot seeds add depth, while butter and vanilla absolute offer a rich, enveloping base. This fragrance is neither overtly sweet nor heavy, striking a balance between fresh spiciness and balsamic warmth.
Apply this fragrance lightly to pulse points — it blooms gradually over time. The smoky incense notes can be overwhelming if used too heavily, so let it develop naturally on your skin for the best experience.
