The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2009, Shalimar Oiseau de Paradis by Guerlain is an Oriental Vanilla fragrance crafted by Jacques Guerlain. This composition opens with a bright citrus top note of bergamot and lemon, which gives way to the rich heart notes of jasmine, iris, and rose. The base of opoponax, incense, leather, vanilla, civet, musk, and sandalwood adds an intriguing complexity, blending smoky and animalic elements with balsamic warmth. It is a fragrance that evokes both elegance and a touch of mystery.
Apply this fragrance in light sprays — it blooms gradually over time. The smoky and animalic notes can be strong initially but settle into a more nuanced profile after an hour. It pairs well with soft fabrics like cashmere or silk.
