The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 1991 by Loewe and crafted by perfumer Jean-Pierre Béthouart, Gala is an Oriental Floral fragrance that defies conventional gender norms with its complex blend of woody, musky, and animalic notes. The composition opens with a bright burst of aldehydes and citrus, giving way to a heart of jasmine, carnation, and ylang-ylang. This floral bouquet is then grounded by warm spices, amber, and leathery undertones, creating an enveloping warmth that feels both intimate and sophisticated.
Apply Gala to pulse points for an intimate warmth that builds gradually. The aldehydic top notes dissipate quickly, but the rich base notes will last throughout the day. For a more pronounced effect, layer it over a light moisturizer.

From chemistry to Caron's Parfum SacréJean-Pierre Béthouart is a French perfumer born in Picardy who studied chemistry before discovering perfumery, beginning his career at Givaudan in 1981 and working there until 1987, after which he became a senior perfumer at Firmenich.
