Black Violet by Tom Ford was launched in 2007 and created by perfumers Clément Gavarry and Pascal Gaurin. This fragrance is a chypre floral that balances the fresh vibrancy of citrus and fruity notes with the earthy depth of violet, moss, and woods. The opening act of bergamot and citruses gives way to a heart that reads as both powdery and lush, thanks to the interplay between violet and oak moss. The base is grounded in woody notes, creating an overall composition that oscillates between freshness and earthy warmth.
Apply Black Violet in layers for the best effect. The citrus opening is bright but fades quickly, so a second application after an hour will help maintain its vibrancy. This fragrance reads better close to skin rather than across a room, making it perfect for intimate settings or quieter daytime wear.
