Opium Eau de Toilette 2009 by Yves Saint Laurent was launched in 2009 and crafted by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu. This fragrance opens with a bright citrus-aromatic blend of tangerine and bergamot, which gives way to the soft floral heart notes of lily-of-the-valley and jasmine. The base is anchored by warm spices like myrrh and carnation, along with rich amber and patchouli that lend an earthy depth. This composition creates a tension between freshness and warmth, making it both vibrant and enveloping.
This fragrance has a moderate sillage and longevity, so apply it lightly. The citrus top notes are bright but fleeting, giving way to the heart and base notes after about an hour. A single spritz on each wrist is often enough to carry through the day.
