Who Wears It
The story behind the bottle.
Ylang-ylang is the kind of note that can tip into cheap shampoo or a closed tropical room — creamy, narcotic, almost aggressive in its sweetness. Dominique Ropion, working for Givenchy in 2009, tamed that impulse by pairing it with almond and mimosa, which drag the composition toward something powdery and sun-warmed, closer to a warm skin-cream than a bouquet. Neroli and petitgrain cut through with a dry citrus edge, and a soft woody base keeps the whole thing from dissolving into pure sugar.
It's a moderate-projection EDP that stays close to the skin, reading as a personal warmth rather than an announcement. The effect is tactile: you smell it when someone leans in, not when they walk into a room. Givenchy's French house identity shows in the restraint — the flowers are there, but they're dressed, not wild.
With moderate sillage, this lives on skin rather than in the air — two sprays at the wrists or collarbone is enough for a full day of close-range presence. The ylang-ylang and neroli top is the most vivid part, so if you want that citrus edge, reapply after two hours; the almond-woody base carries on its own from there.
