Candide Effluve, launched by Jacques Guerlain for Guerlain in 1922, is an Oriental Floral fragrance that embodies the opulent and luxurious essence of its time. The composition opens with a bright citrus accord from bergamot and lemon, which quickly gives way to the lush floral heart notes of ylang-ylang, lilac, jasmine, and orris root. This floral bouquet is enhanced by the warmth of patchouli, vetiver, benzoin, tonka bean, and heliotrope, leading to a rich vanilla and amber base that lingers on the skin with an enveloping sweetness.
Apply Candide Effluve to pulse points for a lasting warmth. The citrus top notes are fleeting, so focus on the base notes that bloom with time. This fragrance reads better close to skin than across a room.
