The story behind the bottle.
Art Collection: L'Homme Libre by Yves Saint Laurent was launched in 2014 and created by perfumers Olivier Polge and Carlos Benaïm. This Woody Spicy fragrance opens with a fresh, aromatic burst of basil and star anise before transitioning into the heart notes of violet leaf and pink pepper. The base notes of patchouli and vetiver provide a grounding warmth that contrasts beautifully with the initial freshness. L'Homme Libre is a composition that balances the sharpness of spices with the earthy comfort of woods, creating a scent that feels both modern and lasting.
For best results, apply L'Homme Libre in light layers — the aromatic top notes are bright but dissipate quickly. The patchouli and vetiver base needs time to bloom, so let it settle for at least an hour before reapplying if needed. This fragrance reads better close to skin than from a distance.
