Who Wears It
The story behind the bottle.
L'Homme Libre by Yves Saint Laurent was launched in 2011, crafted by perfumers Olivier Polge and Carlos Benaïm. This fragrance opens with a vibrant blend of violet leaf and basil, infused with the freshness of bergamot and star anise. The heart notes of pink pepper and nutmeg add a spicy warmth that contrasts beautifully against the ozonic and aquatic undertones. The composition settles into a woody base of vetiver and patchouli, creating a grounding yet modern scent.
One or two sprays on pulse points are enough to capture its modern elegance. The ozonic top notes fade within an hour, but the woody base carries the scent throughout the day.
