Launched in 2010 and crafted by Christian Provenzano, Zizonia by Penhaligon's is an Oriental Woody fragrance that balances fresh spicy notes with aromatic and woody accords. The composition begins with a bright burst of cardamom, bergamot, and coriander, which gives way to the warmth of ginger, nutmeg, and pepper. Lavender and geranium add a delicate floral touch before settling into a rich base of vetiver, sandalwood, Virginia cedar, amber, and patchouli. This fragrance is as much about contrast as it is harmony, with each note contributing to a complex and engaging olfactory experience.
Zizonia's top notes are vibrant but fleeting; apply two sprays to ensure that the warm spicy and woody base notes have time to develop fully. This fragrance reads better close to skin, making it ideal for intimate settings where its nuances can be appreciated.
