Who Wears It
The story behind the bottle.
Black Opium Pure Illusion was launched in 2017 by Yves Saint Laurent and crafted by perfumers Nathalie Lorson, Olivier Cresp, Marie Salamagne, and Honorine Blanc. This Oriental Vanilla fragrance opens with a burst of pear and orange blossom, creating an initial impression of sweetness and freshness. The heart notes of jasmine and almond add depth and warmth, while the base of vanilla, patchouli, cedar, and cashmere wood create a rich and comforting backdrop. Black Opium Pure Illusion is neither overly sweet nor overpowering; instead, it strikes a balance between indulgence and elegance.
Apply this fragrance to pulse points for a warm and enveloping effect. The top notes will fade within an hour, but the rich base notes will linger throughout the day. It is best suited for evening wear or cooler weather when you want a scent that feels both comforting and sophisticated.
